Unbridled Racing is joining forces with Ciaron Maher Racing to bring the Melbourne Cup Calcutta back for 2026, and this time, it's bigger and better than before.
The CMR Melbourne Cup Calcutta returns on Monday, November 2nd 2026, the eve of the Cup, at The Albion Rooftop, South Melbourne. It's Unbridled's first in-person event, and the first Calcutta run in partnership between Australia's premier training operation and the team built to put more people in the winner's circle.
How To Secure an invite:
The first 100 people to buy five or more Unbridled Racing shares, which includes a minimum of 1 share in each horse (Over The Bridge and Amazing Journey) will score a personal invite and a free $155 ticket to the night. It's our way of rewarding the members backing the club early, the more of the stable you own, the closer you are to the action.
Calcutta tickets are $10 each, available on the night so make sure you bring cash to get involved in the draw!
On The Night:
Doors open at 5pm with Premium food and drinks for the whole three hour event on us. The food includes Canape service and the drinks bar is all beer and wine, with spririts not included.
How A Calcutta Works:
It's part raffle, part auction, part race-day drama.
The Ticket Draw. One ticket is drawn for each Melbourne Cup runner. Draw a horse, and you "own" it heading into the auction. Every dollar from ticket sales goes straight into the prize pool.
The Auction. Each horse then goes under the hammer. Bid solo or pool in with your table, when the hammer falls, half the sale price goes to whoever drew that horse, and the other half tops up the prize pool. Highest bidder becomes the new owner. Cash and card accepted on the night.
After The Race. Once the Melbourne Cup is run on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the full prize pool (every ticket sold plus half of every auction sale) is paid out: 65% to the owner of the winner, 20% to the owner of the runner-up, 10% to the owner of third, and 5% to East Malvern Football Club.
